The City of Greater Dandenong Band is currently seeking expressions of interest for a Musical Director as our current MD (Michael Mathers) is moving to Tasmania at the end of 2018.
We are a fun and dedicated B Grade Brass Band with over 35 regularly attending playing members and a very active and supportive volunteer Band Committee. We rehearse weekly on Wednesday nights in Dandenong, with some additional Monday night rehearsals in the weeks prior to major engagements. On average we have two band engagements per month (including community events, competitions, and concerts).
“We are a volunteer community brass band promoting the enjoyment, appreciation, and knowledge of music and the arts within the City of Greater Dandenong and surrounding communities. We strive for musical excellence whilst having fun and fostering community spirit, and aim to share our passion for music with generations to come.”
We are seeking an enthusiastic Musical Director with considerable musical knowledge, excellent leadership qualities, the ability to balance fun and work during rehearsals, and a willingness to push the boundaries of what a brass band can do. The ideal candidate will possess the drive and passion to continue to grow our organisation, whilst maintaining our current culture of fun and enjoyment through music.
A current Working With Children Check is mandatory.
A commencement date prior to the end of 2018 is preferable however Band Committee is committed to finding the best fit for our Band so the start date is flexible for the right applicant.
The Band Committee has committed to attending the 2019 National Band Championships in Brisbane.
