The Victorian Bands' League in partnership with Skunkworks Community Limited is pleased to announce the re-establishment of the Victorian State Youth Brass Band. The Band is open to young brass and percussion musicians up to the age of 25 and will promote and inspire young people to develop their musical talents to their fullest ability. The re-establishment of the Victorian State Youth Brass Band will again bring together our best young brass and percussion musicians and ensure the continued vibrancy of our community and professional performing arts sector. Cranbourne Lions Concert Band: Position Vacant - Musical Director

The Cranbourne Lions Concert Band is currently looking for a new Musical Director. Established in 1986, the ungraded band currently consists of approximately 25 members of varying levels of experience and age. The bad is very active and regularly performas at a number of local community events throughout the year including Australia Day Celebrations, Berwick Show and various Christmas Carol services. Bandstand Sunday 2018 - 21st October

The Victorian Bands’ League is pleased to announce that Bandstand Sunday is back for 2018! The event features bands from around Victoria performing at Federation Square in Melbourne throughout the day from 10am to 5pm. Bands will be allocated around 30 minutes each to perform, including getting on and off stage. This is purely a concert entertainment program with no set music, however we would encourage bands to feature soloists in their program. These are superb drums, amongst the most respected in the contemporary orchestral world.  The tone produced is rich and full, the intonation excellent and reliable. The pedals use a ‘balanced spring’ mechanism, similar to Ludwig Symphonics, but with a greater range. Contest Bylaws Review – call for submissions

Every two years, there is a review of the Victorian Bands’ League Contest Bylaws. This is a great opportunity for bands to reflect on which rules are working and those rules they feel could be improved. Bands are asked to send through any recommendations to the VBL Office by Monday 1 st  August 2016. The suggestions will then be compiled into one document and circulated to all bands at the start of September. The proposals will be then be voted on at the October Delegates Meeting.
